A Follow Up to CNN's Explosive Article on Nursing Home Rape: What's Being Done?

April 7, 2017
March 2017

Federal legislation introduced two days after CNN's investigation was published could make it far more difficult to hold problematic nursing homes accountable for abuse. The bill H.R. 1215, submitted by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, would limit the legal liability of nursing homes, among a wide variety of other doctors, medical facilities and companies. If passed, the law would not only apply to medical accidents but also to egregious cases of sexual and physical abuse.

Please contact your federal representatives and demand that they protect elderly and dependent adult rape victims by voting NO against H.R. 1215 (Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa). Here’s how:

  1. Send a letter to Congress online
  2. Call your federal House Representative. You can find his or her phone number here.
  3. Call Senator Diane Feinstein at (202) 224-3841.
  4. Call Senator Kamala Harris at (202) 224-3553.
